Aliya’ has passed away after a fierce battle with cancer at the age of 45-years-old.

She got her start in Jd’ Star in 1996 under the name Aya Koyama and spent decades entertaining crowds. It was said that she loved pro wrestling and carried her memories in the ring with her through her struggles before the time of her passing.

“Aliya’ passed away early this morning in Japan. I will never forget about her. Thank you so much for supporting her retirement show. She loves Pro wrestling so much. She was wrestling at her retirement show with stage IV cancer…” Sumie Sakai wrote on Twitter.

We are all saddened by this loss, even if you’ve never seen the 20-year pro wrestling veteran work. Our thought are with those close to Aliya’ in this situation as they deal with this time.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
