WWE’s new contract with Fox is a very interesting one because it opens up the idea of a WWE show on FS1 as well. It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there have been a lot of talks in this area as well.

FS1 and FS2 are losing a ton of hours of programming when UFC leaves Fox and they need another show to fill things. While it makes sense for NXT to be on FS1, WWE wants to keep it as a WWE Network exclusive program. Those involved in the process have said it won’t be happening.

There is also talk of doing a pre-show for SmackDown and a post-show on Sundays after pay-per-view events as well.

There is also an idea of doing a weekly show on Wednesday like UFC Tonight. The problem of course, is that FS1 shows are more about journalism and WWE will want to work things as opposed to really talking about the business.

Thanks to their media training at the WWE Performance Center, WWE Superstars are also more prone to stay in character rather than actually shoot from the hip like MMA fighters during interviews.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
