There has been a lot of news going around about WWE’s new TV deals. They’re moving to Fox on Fridays next year and making a ton of money. It’s going to be an interesting time to switch back to Fridays.

Dave Meltzer opened up on Wrestling Observer Radio about how ESPN actually wanted the services of SmackDown Live.

“One thing that wasn’t correct in the article is ESPN was very much interested in SmackDown. It wasn’t that ESPN had talks and decided against it. There was an offer made for SmackDown by ESPN.”

“But WWE made the call that they felt by being on a network — now here’s the thing just in case this thing flops on Friday. I mean who knows? I know that the expectation is $3 million to $3.5 million viewers so when we get there we’ll see.”

Who knows what could happen in between now and October 2019? But according to Meltzer ESPN wanted in the game no matter what they want to say.
