Alexa Bliss won the MITB match and then cashed in later on to disrupt Nia Jax vs Ronda Rousey. The cash-in was a clever way for WWE to book themselves out of Rousey’s first singles match and also set up Bliss as the champion.

Mike Johnson discussed this briefly during PW Insider Elite audio where he revealed that he was told that what happened at Money In The Bank took place exactly as WWE wanted it to in rare example of WWE following through with a plan.

“I was told that after the show that she was never going to run around with the briefcase. The plan always was for her to win it and set herself up as the new heel that the others will have to chase which they did a great job of.”

Therefore, it sounds like Alexa Bliss as champion was always in WWE’s plan. It’s not a bad one because she makes a good champion. Let’s just see how Ronda Rousey reacts to her.
