John Cena looks to be stepping away from WWE as he literally said that his time is up and someone else’s time is now. Still, Vince McMahon said Cena will be back on RAW and SmackDown Live now.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that when Cena said that he wasn’t going to be returning to TV that he was either mistaken or WWE didn’t tell him it would be otherwise. He didn’t mention our report that he would be returning to television during his next run through the end of January.
Cena’s next run with WWE will have to end soon because of another project in the pipeline which could take away his path to WrestleMania.

“I mean he starts the movie January 20th so that pretty much takes him out of the Royal Rumble so if he’s not in the Royal Rumble then he has no ticket or direction for [WrestleMania].”

Meltzer’s reference of a path to WrestleMania was a play off the joke from Cena’s storyline with The Undertaker through Mania 34. You never know when Cena might find an evening off so he can show up at a WWE event, but it’s doubtful he’ll be wrestling if Hollywood has any say.
