John Cena Asked About Chris Benoit Not Being Mentioned on WWE TV

While doing appearances in Australia, John Cena was asked about why WWE doesn’t mention Chris Benoit on their programming. Cena responded with the following remarks to the question:

“Very difficult question, and I’ll answer it like this. Often times, we get caught up in a person’s ability and their performance – and this transcends WWE – this is a problem in sport. It is also a problem in entertainment. People will do bad things. But if they are good at what they do, sometimes those things are overlooked. I don’t in believe that. I believe you should take ownership for your actions. All of them. Not just ones that are performed in front of an audience. I think our company’s stance on the entire situation set a precedent for athletics, and a precedent for entertaining of taking ownership for your actions.”

Most ridiculous thing I have heard. By that standard WWE needs to take responsibilty for their part in this tragedy. I wholly believe they encouraged their athletes to take performance enhancing drugs, although that can’t be proven. What can is the fact that they looked the other way when a test would come back dirty because hey, he seemed ok and hey, he’s making us big money tonight so let’s just over look this one. Its reprehensible and the fact that right after they tightened their policy doesn’t make it any less so. This man helped make this company and now they like to pretend he doesn’t even exist. And Cena is a dumbass. By his own standard none of us should over look the fact that he is a pretentious asshole outside of the ring just because he’s “good” at what he does. GAG
