Zelina Vega won the Women’s United States Championship on the April 25 episode of WWE SmackDown by beating Chelsea Green. She’s proud of her win, but some fans said she only got the title because her husband Aleister Black came back to WWE and she has now dismissed such accusations.

While speaking to HOT 97, Zelina Vega dismissed fan accusations that she only won the Women’s United States Title because her husband Aleister Black returned to WWE. She said the timing wasn’t planned and finds it funny that fans assume she got the title for that reason.

Vega pointed out that if it were really about him, it would have been for a world title. She added that the fact that both moments happened on the same night, just ten minutes apart, made it all feel surreal.

“It’s like the fact that, mind you, this was not planned, which I laugh a lot when I see a lot of the fans accusing, like, ‘Oh my god, the only reason that she got this title is because her husband was coming back.’ I’m like, ‘Don’t you think they would have made it the world title?’ But anyways, secondly, just to have this happen the same night, literally only 10 minutes apart from when he came back, was another moment where you’re like, ‘Did this happen?'”
