Zayda Steel’s AEW debut didn’t go the way she hoped.
After making an appearance last week and confronting Marina Shafir following SkyFlight’s match against The Death Riders, AEW officially booked Steel in her first match for the promotion—a one-on-one bout against Shafir on AEW Collision: Maximum Carnage.
Unfortunately for Steel, her debut ended in defeat. Shafir locked in her signature submission hold, Mother’s Milk, forcing Steel to tap out in the middle of the ring.
The loss marks a tough first impression for Steel, who came in with plenty of confidence but couldn’t overcome the former MMA fighter’s grappling game. While it’s unclear what AEW has planned next for her, the company has shown in the past that one loss doesn’t close the door on rising talent.
Will Zayda Steel bounce back from her debut loss? Or was this a one-off appearance? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
