The Young Bucks have made it clear—when it comes to AEW’s heart and soul, it’s all about Hangman Adam Page.
While speaking to Yahoo Sports, Nick and Matt Jackson didn’t hold back their praise, calling Page the emotional centerpiece of the company and a rare kind of star who naturally connects with fans in a way they never could.
Nick Jackson opened up about how Hangman’s growth mirrors AEW’s rise, recalling how the former World Champion wasn’t embraced at first, but slowly built that support over time.
“Meanwhile, Adam Page is our main character. When he’s on top and when he’s the main event, the show just feels right. He’s grown so much as a performer and he’s literally grown as a character in front of the wrestling world. At the very first All Out, fans didn’t want to see him be the champion then, and now they’re begging for it. When you’re able to change the fans’ perspective on things like that, you know you’re damn good.”
Matt Jackson added that Page’s attention to detail and storytelling ability are next level. He even admitted that while fans tend to root against The Bucks, Hangman is the one wrestler who feels truly chosen by the AEW faithful.
“His attention to detail, his patience and discipline not to rush things, and his ability to captivate an audience are all on another planet. I think he stands alone in that field. He’s one of the chosen ones.”
Matt went even deeper on what makes Page feel special, especially considering his history with AEW from day one.
“Every now and again, someone comes along that fans imprint themselves on. That person becomes ‘their guy.’ I don’t have that. My brother doesn’t have that. We’re easier to root against. Hangman has it. And I think the fact that he is an AEW original really resonates with our audience. It’s almost like we’re a sports franchise that luckily drafted a star player. There’s extra pride that he’s only always worn our jersey.”
Hangman Adam Page has long been a fan favorite, but hearing this kind of admiration from two of AEW’s top executives just cements his role at the heart of the company. Whether he’s in the title scene or not, Page’s connection with fans is one of AEW’s most powerful storytelling tools.
