The Young Bucks have been off AEW TV since losing the AEW Tag Team Titles to Private Party at Fright Night Dynamite, but that doesn’t mean they’ve been sitting on the sidelines.
While away, Matt and Nick Jackson captured the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles in NJPW and are now set to defend them against Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi at The New Beginning in Osaka.
Even with their focus on New Japan, the Bucks know exactly when they’re coming back to AEW. Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, they hinted at what’s next.
“We’re up for anything and everything,” said Matt. “It would be an honor to wrestle Tanahashi one last time. He can pick whomever he wants to team with, even if it’s Kenny. We have a pretty good idea when we’ll report back to work at AEW, and if we’re still having to pack those belts every time we travel, we’d be happy to bring them to AEW Dynamite.”
Nick echoed the same sentiment, adding that he wants to wrestle Hiroshi Tanahashi one more time before he retires at Wrestle Kingdom 2026.
“I’d love to do that match. We have had many matches with Tana, but I’d love to get in there at least one more time before he calls it a career. Same goes with Kenny. That’s the thing I think wrestling fans take for granted. We have no clue how many more matches any of us have left in the tank. I try to enjoy every match like it’s my last these days.”
The Bucks originally left AEW TV, saying the place had gotten too crazy and that they’d be working from home for a while. Now, with their NJPW run in full swing, all signs point to them bringing their IWGP Tag Team Titles back to AEW Dynamite when they return.
Meanwhile, Kenny Omega is already back in AEW after returning at Worlds End and is set to team with Will Ospreay at AEW Grand Slam Australia against Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher.
With Tanahashi’s retirement looming, Omega back in AEW, and the Young Bucks plotting their next move, could a massive match be in the works? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
