X-Pac says he doesn’t look at Aleister Black as a gimmick, he believes that character is true to who Black is in everyday life. Black agrees and says this character is basically him in real life. He adopted a striking style because he understands and appreciates it. Fans may look at him as different, but that’s because he is different.
Black informs that when he was initially speaking to WWE officials they told him that they liked his character, and they didn’t want to change much about it. He knew then that he’d just have to tweak his character a little bit in order to fit cohesively into the WWE style. His merchandising was one thing that needed a subtle adjustment.
He says that he always had success with his merchandise sales while working on the indie scene, and one thing that made his shirts different than everyone else’s was the fact that his shirts were white. Most, if not all WWE shirts are black, but they agreed to do an initial run of white shirts for Black before switching back to black. He asked them if they still plan on switching to a black shirt for him, but they told him that the white shirt continues to sell out so there’s no need to switch to black right now.
