Cody Rhodes may be at the center of WWE’s biggest storyline, but he hasn’t had just one writer handling his segments. Instead, a rotating team has been scripting his journey, with different names taking charge each week.

According to Fightful Select, this past SmackDown in Toronto, where Cody faced The Rock’s latest mind games, was put together by Michael Kirshenbaum, while Cody’s promo itself was credited to Michael Hayes. With multiple hands shaping the narrative, it’s clear WWE is putting serious effort into every detail of Cody’s road to Elimination Chamber and beyond.

On SmackDown, Cody once again found himself at a crossroads as The Rock pushed him to “give him his soul” and accept his offer to become his champion. The night ended with a dramatic moment as a custom Ford Raptor with Cody’s logo rolled out, a “gift” from The Rock, who taunted him from a private jet. Then came the final gut-punch—The Rock revealing a weight belt labeled “Cody’s Soul” with June 11, 2015, the date of Dusty Rhodes’ passing—a move that left Cody staring in silence as SmackDown faded to black.

With so many writers involved in Cody’s segments, it raises a big question—who is really guiding his story? Is WWE’s approach making it more compelling, or could too many cooks in the kitchen lead to inconsistency?
