WWE is reportedly moving ahead with plans for a Roast of WrestleMania following WrestleMania 41, and new details have emerged about what to expect. According to Dave Meltzer’s F4WOnline Daily Update, the event is likely to take place on April 20 at the BleauLive Theater inside the Fontainebleau Las Vegas resort.
Unlike a traditional WWE-produced event, the roast is expected to lean more into the style of Tony Hinchcliffe’s brand of comedy. The stand-up comic, known for his Kill Tony podcast, is set to feature prominently in the roast.
Hinchcliffe, who signed a Netflix deal earlier this year for three comedy specials, is now further linked with WWE as part of the company’s expanding relationship with the streaming giant. With Netflix taking over as RAW’s global broadcast partner, WWE is working closely with them on additional content outside of the U.S.
However, Hinchcliffe’s involvement is bound to be controversial. In 2024, he faced massive backlash across the political spectrum after making racist jokes at a Donald Trump rally at Madison Square Garden. During his set, he called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean,” used racist tropes about Black people and watermelons, mocked Latinos for “loving to make babies,” and referred to Palestinians as “rock-throwers.”
With WWE and Netflix now teaming up for this event, it remains to be seen how fans—and WWE’s corporate partners—will react to Hinchcliffe’s controversial reputation.
