Jade Cargill is headed to WrestleMania 42—but who she’ll face for the SmackDown Women’s Championship remains a mystery.
Despite holding the title since November 2025, WWE has yet to solidify her WrestleMania opponent, according to WrestleVotes Radio via Fightful Select on February 12, 2026. With time ticking down to WWE’s biggest show of the year, internal talks are reportedly ongoing, and multiple high-profile names are being considered: “WrestleMania 42 plans are still being solidified.”
The report states that while Jade is penciled in to defend her title on the grand stage, WWE hasn’t made a final call on who will challenge her. Among the top contenders being discussed: Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton.
“Wrestlevotes Radio is reporting that WWE has yet to determine the direction of the WrestleMania Smackdown Women's Title match. Many possibilities have been discussed, with Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton among some of the more pitched options to face Jade Cargill.”
The uncertainty comes as fans are starting to question Cargill’s reign. Since defeating Stratton to win the title at Saturday Night’s Main Event in November, Cargill has only logged a total of 7 minutes and 25 seconds of singles in-ring action on TV. Her three matches—against B-Fab (2:15), Alba Fyre (1:50), and Chelsea Green (3:20)—have all been quick squashes.
That could start on the February 13 edition of SmackDown, where Cargill is scheduled to defend her title on television for the first time against Jordynne Grace. With WrestleMania just weeks away, that bout may offer clues about WWE’s long-term plans—or shake things up entirely.
WrestleMania 42 takes place April 18–19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and with only one match confirmed so far (CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns), Cargill’s role is under the microscope.
Who do you want to see Jade Cargill face at WrestleMania 42? Should WWE go all-in on a big-name clash—or build a longer-term feud? Sound off in the comments and let us know your pick.
