Survivor Series: WarGames may have closed out 2025 with chaos, but it also quietly set the stage for two massive men’s world championship matches at WrestleMania 42.
In a new update on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed WWE’s current plan is to deliver Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship and CM Punk vs. Bron Breakker for the World Heavyweight Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All in Las Vegas.
“Punk getting pinned, that finish was there to tell the story. Like I said the other day, the whole thing when we come out of this match, the idea is we’re supposed to know WrestleMania — which is Cody and Roman, and Punk and Bron Breakker are the championship matches.”
Meltzer’s co-host Bryan Alvarez questioned WWE’s choice to run Reigns vs. Rhodes for a third straight WrestleMania, but Meltzer confirmed:
“That’s the plan as of today, yeah.”
The Survivor Series main event saw Bron Breakker pin CM Punk following a sneak attack by a mystery masked man, giving the heel team the win. After the match, Roman Reigns helped Punk to his feet — but the real tension came when Cody Rhodes and Reigns locked eyes in a heated stare-down as the show faded to black.
So now it’s clear: the mystery attack on Punk wasn’t random — it was calculated. And WWE is heading into 2026 with two massive title feuds already locked in.
Do you think WrestleMania 42’s double main event — Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns III and CM Punk vs. Bron Breakker — is the right call? Is WWE leaning too hard on rematches, or are these stories far from finished? Sound off in the comments and let us know where you stand.
