WWE’s Internal Reaction to AJ Lee’s Imminent Return Revealed

It’s all but confirmed that AJ Lee will be making her triumphant return to WWE after over a decade, especially after the events of Clash in Paris and Monday Night RAW. As anticipation builds, the internal reaction to AJ Lee’s imminent return has been revealed.

Fightful Select reports that WWE is planning for AJ Lee to wrestle again at WrestlePalooza, with her TV return happening very soon. It was noted that WWE has had several pitches for AJ Lee, who’s set to have her first match in ten years. Sources strongly hinted she’ll be seen or mentioned on this week’s SmackDown.

“WWE is planning an AJ Lee return to the ring at WrestlePalooza, and a return on-screen imminently. Fightful Select reported this weekend that there had been a number of pitches internally for AJ Lee, who is poised to return to the ring after ten years. It was heavily implied by WWE sources that AJ would be appearing or referenced on this week’s Smackdown, which seems like a forgone conclusion at this point.”

Many WWE staff and wrestlers noted that they haven’t seen or spoken with AJ Lee since she left, but she’s always kept friendly contact over the years. A lot of the women in the locker room, who grew up as fans of AJ, are especially excited.

One veteran, who never got to wrestle her, admitted they were surprised by the news, since CM Punk usually brushed off questions about AJ wrestling again. They believe Punk was just being respectful of his wife’s choices.

“There are many staff and talent who spoke to us about Lee, and said that they hadn’t spoken to her or seen her since she left, but that she maintained very pleasant exchanges with them over the years. There were a number of women’s wrestlers specifically who grew up on AJ Lee who were very excited. One veteran that actually never got to work with AJ said that they were shocked it happened, because CM Punk would usually dismiss when he would be needled about it, but they felt like that was more of him being respectful and supportive of whatever his wife wanted.“

With AJ Lee set to return to WWE soon and wrestle her first match in a decade at WrestlePalooza, the excitement is limitless. Fans are preparing for one of the most emotional comebacks in years, one that could have a major impact on the women’s division going forward. So we’ll have to see how it will turn out in the end.
