The 2026 Royal Rumble event was quite a show in Saudi Arabia. Brock Lesnar showed up, but he didn’t win the over-the-top-rope match.
During a Fightful Select Q&A, someone asked whether Brock Lesnar was expected to have a major role at SummerSlam this year since the show was set for Minnesota. This would make a lot of sense, because WWE loves to bring out local heroes for massive shows.
Sean Ross Sapp said the belief inside WWE was that Brock Lesnar was planned for the event as of the start of the year. He added that he wasn’t sure whether WWE would tie it into another retirement type angle.
That being said, Brock Lesnar being penciled in for SummerSlam isn’t exactly shocking either. Since it’s usually the kind of major show WWE has used him for in past years. WWE has marketed SummerSlam as one of their most important shows on the schedule.
We will have to see what WWE’s plan is for Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42. He had a run-in with Oba Femi during the Royal Rumble match, and that might be a contest that WWE is going to look at for the future of the company. Only time will tell how things play out, but Lesnar is certainly in the mix.
