Money in the Bank 2025 ended with a moment fans will be talking about for years—R-Truth returned to WWE and speared John Cena in a wild, unannounced comeback. But while the crowd erupted in the arena, the real drama may have been backstage.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, WWE talent had a lot to say about Truth’s return behind the scenes—and the sentiment was blunt. On the post-Money in the Bank show, Sapp revealed he received several messages from active WWE Superstars expressing their feelings on how the situation was handled. They believe the company couldn’t take the public backlash anymore and scrambled to bring Truth back.
“They couldn’t stand the bad press. They’re trying to shortchange talent. Give scraps. Oh—and talent have a right to say they want more after years and years of dedication. Don’t think he was on a high deal. Don’t think they wanted to give him a penny more—and he really won. Now they have their tails tucked between their legs, laughing at them, pretending this was all a part of the show. These are active talent, by the way.”
The sudden return came together within the last 72 hours, according to reports. WWE had previously released R-Truth, and many believed his career was winding down. Instead, he’s now back and already reigniting a feud with none other than John Cena.
What’s bothering many backstage is the way WWE is now acting like the return was planned all along. Talent reportedly sees this as a backpedal—one that only happened because the company couldn’t take the heat after fans protested across several shows with loud “We want Truth” chants.
With Truth now back in the spotlight, fans are wondering what’s next—and whether WWE will finally give him the respect they think he deserves.
