It’s no secret that most WWE talent don’t actually watch the shows they’re on. After all, they lived it. But Unreal might be changing that.
Multiple WWE stars told Fightful Select that they rarely go back to watch episodes they appear in—but Unreal is an exception. The show’s unique presentation and how it was sold to talent internally got them genuinely curious to see how it would turn out. One wrestler said the show was being promoted in a way that made them want to tune in despite their usual habits:
“There were a number of wrestlers who said that with most programming, they don’t watch it because they’ve already lived it. However… almost all of the people we spoke to that typically follow that, said that they were going to check it out because of how it was promoted to them.”
This reaction is a big win for the Netflix-WWE collaboration. Not only are fans watching, but talent who typically skip their own work are finally sitting down to see how they’re portrayed.
When wrestlers who normally skip TV are suddenly interested, that’s a sign that Unreal is doing something right.
What’s your take—does Unreal finally give fans and talent something fresh to watch? Or is it just more behind-the-scenes packaging? Drop your opinions in the comments.
