The WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event featured John Cena turning heel and working with The Rock, as he absolutely demolished Cody Rhodes. With that said, several details regarding John Cena’s heel turn have now been revealed.
Some fans were surprised by the match order, as reports before the Elimination Chamber event suggested WWE had listed The Rock and Cody Rhodes’ segment for the middle of the show. However, Fightful Select reports that this was intentional as WWE planned for it to be the main event all along but listed it earlier to keep Cena’s turn a secret.
Fightful reports it was very protected secret and that most people in WWE were completely shocked, as The Rock’s creative is handled privately between him, Brian Gewirtz, and Triple H, with others only informed on a “need to know basis”. While The Rock’s WrestleMania 41 involvement isn’t officially confirmed, many in WWE expect him to appear.
On top of that, Fightful confirmed that John Cena’s Elimination Chamber promotional poster featuring him, The Rock, and Travis Scott was “100% intentional foreshadowing” of the shocking alliance.
John Cena will be challenging Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41 since Cena won the Elimination Chamber match. Therefore, we will have to wait and see how WWE will book Cena and Cody Rhodes’ feud in the upcoming weeks, as Cena’s heel turn was definitely a shot in the arm that WWE sorely needed heading into WrestleMania 41.
