WWE fans hoping to attend SummerSlam 2025 might want to check their bank accounts twice. A 2-day combo floor seat for the massive August 2–3 event at MetLife Stadium is listed for a jaw-dropping $16,956.95—and former WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman is not holding back about it.
After a fan shared a screenshot of the ticket listing on X, Coachman responded with frustration over the skyrocketing cost of attending live events.
“That’s an insult to the term ‘combo price’. My goodness I would love to see them justify these prices, but somehow these tickets are selling and so until they stop selling nothing is going to change.”
Coachman didn’t stop there. He pointed out how the inflated ticket prices are making it nearly impossible for working-class fans and families to attend—something the wrestling business was built on.
“It is causing a lot of really good people who have families who want to come see it because nobody ever buys one ticket. So when you talk about ticket prices, it’s multiple people—and that’s what’s really really difficult to see.”
He followed up by calling WWE’s pricing strategy part of a dangerous trend in entertainment, driven by corporate greed.
“The wrestling business has always been built on families and bringing kids to shows and fan fests. The whole ‘business is about making as much money as humanly possible’ is just to me a lazy narrative and in 2025 you’ve gotta be more creative about going after every single dollar.”
And in what many fans saw as the real gut punch, Coachman warned that WWE’s short-term money grab could hurt the future of their audience.
“This is starting to pick up steam because regular fans simply cannot afford to go at these prices. So no I don’t agree in this instance that it’s about every last dollar. It’s about playing the long game and the long game is making sure that families and kids and their kids and their kids continue to enjoy wrestling and at this rate that’s not gonna happen.”
He finished with one last blunt shot at the price tag itself.
“These prices are absolutely obscene and there is no disputing that—that’s just a fact.”
Coachman’s words are resonating with fans who say they feel shut out of the live WWE experience. Whether WWE will respond to the backlash remains to be seen—but the $17K sticker shock isn’t going away anytime soon.
