A WWE television rule that most fans probably never hear about got exposed during the August 9, 2026 episode of LFG, and it came up because Harlem Lewis wanted to spit on his opponent.
Lewis pitched the spot because he wanted to draw more heat during the match. Kevin Owens immediately shut it down and made it clear the issue wasn’t whether it would get a reaction — WWE simply didn’t want that kind of thing happening on television.
“You can’t do that. We are on TV and they don’t want that.”
That makes the exchange a lot more interesting than a normal creative disagreement. Owens wasn’t telling Lewis that spitting on his opponent was a bad heel move. He was pointing to a TV-specific restriction and treating it like a hard rule.
Lewis was looking for something nasty enough to get the crowd against him, and spitting on an opponent certainly would have done that. But Owens’ response showed there are still lines WWE doesn’t want crossed once a match is being produced for television.
