With the 2026 Royal Rumble set for January 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, WWE is doing everything possible to keep surprise entrants under wraps—including telling Superstars to put their phones away.

According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live on January 30, 2026, WWE management has issued a clear directive to talent this week: ease up on social media photos, especially during travel and backstage moments. The concern? One accidental post could spoil a major surprise.

“The talent were told over the last couple of days, because every time they go to these places, they bombard social media with photos. We talked the other day about how Rey Mysterio posted a photo of himself with Dragon Lee and Penta, all unmasked but covering their faces. The talent were told to ease up on the photos because there’s concern that some surprise might be in the background of one of the pictures and reveal something. So they’re trying to avoid stuff getting out.”

This comes after we had previously reported that WWE was staggering travel schedules, using private chartered flights and tight hotel security to limit leaks. Some top stars flew out right after RAW this past week, while others—including rumored surprise entrants—were being brought in separately and later in the week.

WWE believes this year may actually be easier to protect secrets thanks to the international setting, fewer public airport sightings, and now—stricter social media discipline. With speculation swirling around names like Tiffany Stratton and even AJ Lee, fans will be watching every camera angle closely once the countdown clock starts ticking in Riyadh.
