Vince McMahon recently celebrated his 80th birthday in style and it featured quite a few WWE talent as well. As it turns out, it appears more and more WWE names are now in contact with him again.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there was a time when almost nobody outside of Vince McMahon’s closest friends wanted anything to do with him. In many cases, this was because their wives were disgusted by the lawsuit against him and didn’t want their husbands connected to him.

Over time, though, more and more former WWE names have gotten back in touch with McMahon. There was also a period when WWE talent were specifically told not to contact him, but that restriction is no longer in place.

“There was a period when all but a few of Vince McMahon’s closest friends had nothing to do with him, although in a lot of the cases it was because of their wives being appalled from the lawsuit and not wanting their husbands to have an association.

In time, more and more ex-WWE people have been back in contact with him. There was a period when people in WWE were told not to have any contact with him and obviously that’s no longer the case.”

As noted earlier, WWE names such as Undertaker, John Cena, JBL, Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Maryse, Titus O’Neil, and Bruce Prichard were part of Vince McMahon’s birthday bash at Gotham Hall in New York City.

Vince McMahon being seen celebrating with big WWE names stands out because he has largely kept a low profile since the scandals that led to his exit from company leadership. Regardless, now that WWE talent are no longer restricted from having contact with McMahon, we’ll have to see if more names will decide to contact him in the future.

Do you think WWE talent reconnecting with Vince McMahon is a sign of forgiveness—or just loyalty to wrestling’s history?
