WWE may be looking to make a major addition to its roster, and the name at the center of it all is Jeff Cobb.
According to Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, WWE has recently shown strong interest in the NJPW star, who has been racking up wins in Japan while openly questioning his next move.
Following a tough loss last month, Cobb expressed his frustration about his standing in New Japan, leading to speculation that he may be looking for a change.
“So where does that leave Jeff Cobb? It seems I can’t win when all the marbles are down. G1, New Japan Cup. Long gone are the days when I went 8-0 in the G1. Now I can’t even break .500. Where does that leave Jeff Cobb? Maybe it’s time to take my bags and go somewhere else. I don’t know. I don’t know.”
One source even indicated that Cobb appeared on WWE’s internal roster this week, though that has yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, over in AEW, sources say Cobb is not expected to join their company.
With Cobb’s future in question, WWE could be positioning itself as his next destination. If the rumors are true, the powerhouse athlete could soon be bringing his brutal offense to a whole new audience.
