WWE Star Admits to Harassing CM Punk Over AJ Lee’s Return

AJ Lee’s impact on WWE remains strong, with her 2015 departure marking the end of an era that played a major role in the Women’s Revolution she helped inspire. Fans have been hoping for her return for a long time, and now a WWE star has admitted to harassing CM Punk about AJ Lee’s potential return.

While speaking to The Wrestling Classic, Naomi was asked whether she wants to see AJ Lee back in WWE as rumors about her return continue to run rampant. Naomi admitted that she has been harassing CM Punk about AJ Lee coming back to WWE.

Naomi added that she told Punk to tell AJ she can’t retire until she returns, joking that her back hurts and it has to happen soon. Naomi said it’s amazing that AJ Lee is still so missed and wanted after being gone for more than ten years. She believes it shows how much AJ Lee did for women’s wrestling, and that her return would be special for everyone, even if it’s just a short appearance.

“Of course, I’ve been harassing her husband about that all the time. I told him, ‘You need to tell her I can’t retire until she comes back. Girl, you need to come on because Mama’s back is hurting!’ It has to happen. It has to happen. I can’t retire before that.

I mean, it’s crazy for her to be gone for over a decade and still be missed, still be wanted so badly. I think that speaks volumes and really shows what she did for women’s wrestling. I think we’ll all be in for a treat—a present, a reward—for all of us if she comes back, even if it’s just a quick ‘hey’ and a little show. We’re starving, sis!”

WrestleVotes previously reported that WWE fully supports the idea of AJ Lee returning to the company. He mentioned that if she reaches out and says, “I’m in,” WWE would immediately agree without hesitation.

“It is a question I get quite a bit. As far as I know, WWE is totally on board for it. They would welcome it. She picks up the phone and she says, ‘I’m in.’ They’re going to say, ‘Yes. What took so long?’ I would say the only two people that probably know that answer are AJ Lee and CM Punk and whatever that answer may be is up to them. So we’ll see.”

AJ Lee did not return during the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event, even though fans really wanted it to happen and CM Punk dropped a tease about the same. Nonetheless, we will have to wait and see whether AJ Lee returns to WWE this year, as fans feel even one appearance would be worth the wait.
