As Danhausen’s AEW contract nears its end, WWE is already being discussed as a potential next destination—but not everyone in the company is on the same page about bringing him in.

According to WrestleVotes during a Q&A session, opinions within WWE are currently split when it comes to signing Danhausen once he becomes a free agent in February 2026. While some see value in his character and fanbase, others are less convinced.

“I know there are people there who want him to come over, and I also know there are people there who aren’t very keen on him or his talents. I’m sure there will be an offer—he’s talented and he’s over. But I know some people there just don’t get it, and that’s fair. So we’ll see. I don’t think him coming over is a done deal yet.”

The update comes just days after Fightful Select reported that Danhausen’s AEW contract is now set to expire in February 2026. Although the deal was initially supposed to end in mid-2025, AEW quietly extended it due to injury, against Danhausen’s wishes.

Sources say he wanted the contract to lapse so he could reclaim more control over his independent bookings and merchandise. Despite the extension, Danhausen hasn’t returned to AEW programming and hasn’t even been backstage for quite some time.

“AEW sources that we’ve spoken to claim he hasn’t been backstage in ages, and hasn’t been factored in to any creative plans,” Fightful noted.

With no recent creative plans for him in AEW and no backstage presence in months, Danhausen’s exit seems imminent—and a potential WWE run hangs in the balance, depending on which side of the locker room wins out.

Should WWE take a chance on Danhausen’s brand of very nice, very evil chaos? Or is he better suited for staying in the indies? Sound off in the comments.
