The July 4, 2025 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown brought fireworks ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event, but it didn’t translate into a ratings boost. The episode featured a major return from Drew McIntyre, who made a shocking appearance that immediately shook up the main event scene.

According to Programming Insider, the show averaged 1.166 million viewers on the USA Network. This marks a drop from the 1.450 million viewers the show scored on June 27. In the P18–49 key demo, the show earned a 0.32 rating, also down from last week’s 0.41.

Despite the dip, the episode delivered major storyline developments. McIntyre’s return interrupted a confrontation between CM Punk and John Cena, signaling his intentions ahead of Night of Champions. Elsewhere on the show, Liv Morgan continued her chaotic reign as Women’s Champion, brawling with Nia Jax, and Kevin Owens earned a spot in the upcoming No. 1 contender’s match after defeating Grayson Waller.
