We’re less than a week away from Backlash and tonight we have some huge matches to get us all warmed-up!
The Champion, Randy Orton, faces some very stiff competition tonight in the form of the Lone Wolf, Baron Corbin. Orton’s Backlash opponent, Jinder Mahal, also has a difficult night at the office, as he takes on the Phenomenal AJ Styles! Tonight will be a big test for both Champion and challenger, but I doubt Jinder and the Singh Brothers will allow Orton’s match to simply play-out. Keep your eyes peeled for some screwy finishes.
Also on tonight’s SmackDown Live, there will be a contract signing for the match between Naomi, Charlotte & Becky Lynch Vs. Natalya, Carmella & Tamina Snuka. As we all know, contract signings rarely go off without a hitch, and one involving six ladies, not to mention James Ellsworth, sure as hell will not end peacefully. This six-woman match at Backlash means the Women’s Championship will not be on the line and that’s fine because there isn’t a clear-cut challenger to Naomi right now, seeing as Charlotte is a babyface. I could see the good gals coming out on top tonight and losing on Sunday night but we shall see!
AJ Styles is stepping into the ring with Jinder Mahal but at Backlash he faces Kevin Owens for the United States Championship. Tonight however, Kevin Owens will take another shot at his former best friend Chris Jericho, as he takes over as the host of The Highlight Reel! Owens’ first guest is, as yet, unannounced for the show.
Elsewhere on the show tonight, Rusev is scheduled to make his first appearance on SmackDown Live, Dolph Ziggler and Shinsuke Nakamura are less than a week away from their big showdown, and hopefully we will get more of the Fashion Files!
