SmackDown Live opens with a graphic remembering Matthew Anoa’I, who sadly passed away today. Rosey was part of Eric Bischoff’s 3 Minute Warning gimmick, and the brother of Roman Reigns. We open with a look back at everything that happened on last week’s show, focusing on the superstar shake-up.

The show opens with Charlotte making her way down to the ring. She has already lost her patience and wonders if Shane and Daniel went on summer vacation. Charlotte can’t figure out why she hasn’t been granted a shot at the Smackdown Women’s Championship. She screams, “What…has been taking…so long!?”

Naomi comes out to a nice reception. She says on SmackDown Live we don’t have Kings or Queens, we have Champions. And she is one. Naomi says she’s been watching Charlotte for a long time and she knows what she’s all about. She says there’s no point in wasting anymore time, so we’re gonna do this right here and now. Naomi drops the title and clobbers Charlotte, sending her from the ring.

Charlotte, incensed, takes off her robe and tries to get back in the ring but a referee runs down and stops her. Shane McMahon comes out and says that we will see these two face off tonight. However, title shots are not just handed out on SmackDown, they’re earned. He books a number one contenders match, between Charlotte and Naomi tonight.

Shane leaves and Charlotte storms the ring, attacking Naomi and holding the Women’s Championship high. Naomi returns and throws Charlotte back out, holding her title above her head.

Up next is the Six-Pack Challenge!

After the match, Jinder Mahal says the fans boo him because of his backstage. “You Americans don’t accept diversity, but you’ll have no choice but to accept Jinder Mahal as your next WWE World Champion.” As Jinder goes to celebrate, WWE Champion Randy Orton walks out on stage with the title over his shoulder and a mic in hand.

He congratulates Jinder, but says his prize won’t be this title. Orton gets inside the ring. “The only prize you’ve awarded yourself is an RKO from yours truly.” He brings up having to deal with Bray Wyatt first. Orton isn’t sure what a House of Horrors is, but if it’s anything like the last house, he’ll burn it to the ground.

Bray Wyatt shows up on the screen and tells Orton he wants him to feel his pain and suffering. Bray says that Randy doesn’t know what he’s getting himself into in the House of Horror’s match. He says Randy will walk in but he promises he will never walk out. He tells Orton to run.
