WWE’s global expansion hit a major roadblock today as Netflix’s stream of Friday Night SmackDown completely crashed — and fans are not happy.

The June 27th edition of SmackDown, live from Saudi Arabia, was expected to be a smooth showcase for WWE’s new Netflix deal. But just minutes into the broadcast, things fell apart. The show opened with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton trading verbal shots ahead of their Night of Champions match — and then, suddenly, the Netflix feed cut out.

Fans hoping to enjoy the show internationally were left staring at error screens, with no fix in sight. The outage happened less than five minutes into the program, and as of now, the stream hasn’t returned.

Social media exploded with angry reactions, as frustrated viewers vented about the streaming failure. Many pointed out that this isn’t the first time Netflix has stumbled during a major live event. Just last year, the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight was marred by similar technical issues.

To make matters worse, WWE officials, including Triple H, had previously dismissed concerns about Netflix’s ability to handle live sports, claiming WWE wouldn’t face the same problems. Clearly, that confidence didn’t age well.

What’s your take — did Netflix drop the ball, or should WWE have seen this coming? Vent your frustration in the comments.
