When it comes to pulling back the curtain on pro wrestling, WWE usually keeps a tight grip. But Netflix’s new series WWE: UnReal is smashing that tradition—and Chris Weaver, who worked closely on the series, made it clear that fans are about to see a whole new level of behind-the-scenes access.

During a conversation with Jimmy V3, Weaver explained that this isn’t just another documentary offering a glimpse into WWE’s inner workings. It’s a full-on teardown of the wall that’s kept fans at a distance for decades.

“People ask me, they say, ‘Oh, so we’re going to peek behind the curtain.’ And I’m like, ‘No, this isn’t just a peek behind the curtain. This is like pulling the curtain down.’”

According to Weaver, WWE shocked even their own internal staff with how much they allowed the cameras to capture.

“They were very open. They, you know, we said, ‘Let us shoot with as much as we possibly can.’ And they did that. And they were very warm and receiving. And they made us feel like part of a group when we go out on the road or when we go into Stamford, their headquarters.”

One moment that stood out to him happened early in the shoot, when even WWE’s own team was surprised at how deep the access was going.

“One of the first events we shot, we were going and shooting some different things, and even like internal people at WWE were like, ‘Whoa, you’re going to shoot that?’ And that’s when I knew, you know, we’re on to something here. We got something special.”

For longtime wrestling fans and first-time viewers alike, UnReal isn’t just a look behind the scenes—it’s a raw, open view into the machine that runs the biggest wrestling company in the world.
