WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event returned to NBC on July 12, 2025, delivering a night packed with nostalgia and hard-hitting action. The show was headlined by Goldberg squaring off against GUNTHER in what turned out to be Goldberg’s retirement match. However, it appears the show actually saw a decrease in viewership.
According to Programming Insider, the broadcast drew 1.425 million viewers, a drop from the 1.969 million viewers the May 24 edition pulled in. In the 18–49 key demographic, the episode earned a 0.33 rating, down from the 0.54 rating posted during the previous airing.
These numbers do not include Peacock streaming figures, which could add more to WWE’s overall reach, especially with premium live event promotion driving digital traffic

The night was full of drama, as it saw Goldberg challenge GUNTHER for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Despite Goldberg’s best efforts, GUNTHER beat him after choking him out, thus ending his career.
Solo Sikoa also successfully retained the WWE United States Championship against Jimmy Uso before Jacob Fatu made his shocking return and scared off the rest of the Bloodline. The episode also featured several other standout matches, keeping fans entertained throughout the evening.
