WWE is running with full steam ahead with Survivor Series: WarGames this Saturday in San Diego. Petco Park will also see the Men’s WarGames match with Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso versus Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed. That was an interesting lineup to see put together on television.

Thunder Rosa never got a run in WWE, but she’s watching the product. The former AEW Women’s World Champion also knows that Survivor Series: WarGames is coming this Saturday.

During an appearance on the Busted Open podcast, Thunder Rosa spoke openly about WWE’s build for the men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series 2025. The comments came as the show shifted from discussing the women’s match to the men’s lineup.

The idea that WWE hasn’t properly built this storyline came up. Thunder Rosa said that was her biggest point of criticism when she thinks of the match. The star power is there, but the storyline reasoning for the match just isn’t.

“I don’t know. I think the men’s buildup was kind of whack, so I started with the women. Sorry, men—we’re pushing you aside.”

Thunder Rosa then explained what she believes motivated WWE’s approach to the match, as she pointed to the need for major names to move tickets. The card is full of big names, which is what WWE needs, but there is no focal angle that brings the match together. Tickets are expensive, so the card is naturally going to be loaded.

“Think about it. Those are like the biggest stars, biggest egos. Cody has been the face of WWE for a while. Then it comes like CM Punk… and then you have your Tribal Chief, who again, was the face of WWE for years… He’s like, okay guys, listen, they forced me to come here because we have to sell tickets.”

“Survivor Series is not sold out… Tickets are expensive. They need to sell tickets. So they better bring every single star that they have for this show. And it’s the first show in a baseball stadium—they better bring everybody to this show.”

Thunder Rosa finished with a direct critique of the creative direction. She didn’t hold back as she doubled-down on how the storyline just isn’t there.

“So it will be dumb from WWE not to do this. This is very strategical. Yes. And this is the reason why you and I are like—it’s lacking storyline. Because it really is.”

Thunder Rosa’s remarks place focus not only on the addition of Roman Reigns late in the game, without a real reason from the OTC, but it also speaks on WWE’s broader strategy of stacking a card with major names when ticket demand calls for it, even when it comes at the expense of deeper story development.

We will have to see how Survivor Series: WarGames plays out. The storyline is certainly not there like it has been in recent years. Only time will tell if there is any fallout after the big event. With the kind of huge names on the card that WWE has to offer, it will most likely be a can’t miss show. Thunder Rosa will probably be watching closely as well.
