The mystery surrounding the masked attacker who laid out CM Punk at Survivor Series WarGames just got a major update—straight from WWE.com.

In a segment compiled by Pat McAfee Show contributor Mark Kaboly, WWE published a full suspect list, ranking the possible culprits behind the shocking Stomp that ended the WarGames main event and helped The Vision secure victory.

Here’s the breakdown of suspects, ranked from most to least likely, according to the post:

  1. Randy Orton: The top suspect. Orton’s long and often bitter history with Punk is well-documented, dating back to matches like WrestleMania 27. His recent absence from TV makes him a prime candidate for a surprise return. Kaboly points out that Orton’s November 2023 return was overshadowed by Punk’s, which “couldn’t have gone over well with Orton.” Add in Orton’s subtle flirtation with a heel turn before his disappearance, and the timing seems to fit.
  2. Austin Theory: The physical build of the attacker has many thinking it’s Theory under the mask. His past ties to Paul Heyman and The Vision make this a logical option—but perhaps too logical. As Kaboly writes: “If that wasn’t Theory dressed all in black, then I think we are kidding ourselves.”
  3. Seth Rollins: The wildcard. Rollins and Punk have real-life tension and onscreen hostility. Despite being out with injury and apparently no longer associated with The Vision, Rollins is still on TV often—so he might not be as sidelined as believed. Kaboly says: “He fooled us not long ago, so why not again?”
  4. John Cena: An extreme long shot—but given Cena’s history with Punk, especially during their legendary 2011–2012 rivalry, his name still makes the list. “You can’t ignore the history,” Kaboly notes, though he admits it “really doesn’t make much sense at all.”
  5. LA Knight: Frustrated and overlooked, Knight might have decided to take matters into his own hands. A confrontation with Punk could catapult him into title contention. Kaboly speculates that Knight “could be fed up with not getting an opportunity at a title.”
  6. Becky Lynch” Yes, The Man made the list. Kaboly suggests Lynch’s erratic behavior lately could open the door to something as shocking as targeting Punk. Plus, there’s a curious thread—Lynch tapped out to AJ Lee earlier in the night. Kaboly writes: “The Man is so unhinged right now that you can’t put anything past what she might do.”
  7. Sami Zayn: With Logan Paul’s future in The Vision uncertain, Zayn could slide into that role. But Kaboly questions whether “all this mystery over a piece of The Vision [is] worth interrupting WarGames.”
  8. AJ Styles: A long-standing Punk rival, Styles remains a dark horse. Kaboly notes: “With Styles pushing toward the end of his career, there are worse things than him getting a chance at a title run.”

The identity of the masked figure remains officially unconfirmed, but with Saturday Night’s Main Event and John Cena’s farewell match on the horizon, the answer may not stay hidden for long.
