Beth Phoenix makes her entrance to talk about her husband. She gets in the ring and says she’s thankful to have been given this time on Raw tonight.
Phoenix is interrupted almost immediately by The Viper, Randy Orton. Randy looks to hug Beth but she puts a hand up. Orton then looks for a handshake but Beth stares at him. She asks if he really thinks she would hug him or shake his hand after what he did to her husband? Orton ignores her and sits on the top rope. Beth says she isn’t surprised because she expected to see him tonight. But that’s fine because if anyone needs to hear this, it’s him.
She is here tonight as a wife and mother, because she needs her husband and her kids deserve their father. Beth says that maybe there is a possibility that…but Orton hops off the ropes and gets in her face, then grabs a microphone. Randy says he knew she was going to say that it’s a possibility that Edge will never be back, but he knows it’s a certainty. However he owes her an explanation and he’s going to give it.

Orton says he doesn’t know how to say it but he’ll start with a story. Back in 1999 in the fall WWE had a live event in his hometown and his father took him to it at 19 years old. He was backstage with his dad and he was just a fan; this business is in his blood. And to see the likes of Austin, Triple H, and more backstage was incredible. But the only person who shook his father’s hand was Edge. And he beamed with pride as Edge told Bob Orton that he was one of the best heels of all time. Then his father introduced the two of them and Edge looked at him and wished him good luck, saying maybe someday they could work together.
Orton says that motivated him and years later he and Edge main evented all over the world for the Intercontinental Championship. And a few years after that they became Rated RKO and Tag Team Champions. But just as they hit the heights you only dream of, he flew too close to the sun and almost buried himself. But Edge saved his life and career, and realised there is more to life. Edge taught him to be a father and a husband, and saved him. And he returned the favour by saving Edge’s life.
At the Royal Rumble he got goosebumps when Edge came out but the next night on RAW he knew Edge thought he was back for good. But he knew somebody like him would try to make a name for themselves by attacking Edge and putting him in a wheelchair. So he attacked Edge because he loves him, he loves Beth, and he loves their children Lyric and Ruby. He saved Edge so that he can still go on bike rides and hikes and play with his kids. Everyone blames him but he knows it isn’t his fault and Beth knows it too…it’s her fault. Beth looks like she might cry.
She’s an enabler. She fuelled his passion for wrestling and caused him to come back, risking his life and his fatherhood. So he was forced to step in as a brother and make sure he’s there for Lyric and Ruby.  He says he loves Edge, Lyric, and Ruby more than Edge ever could. Beth gets mad and slaps Orton, who tosses the microphone. Randy stares at Beth and the fans chant “RKO.” Beth kicks Orton in the gut and he immediately responds with an RKO!

Orton leaves up the ramp but takes one look back to see Beth Phoenix lying in the ring, out cold. The camera returns to the announcers as officials and doctors run down to the ring to check on Beth. The announcers talk like it’s a shoot. Rey Mysterio, R-Truth, Zack Ryder, and more are also in the ring with Beth.
And that’s it for WWE Raw this week. Let us know what you thought and we’ll see you here tomorrow for more news. Until then, safe travels!
