Rey Mysterio suffered a series of injuries that forced him to pull out of his scheduled match at WrestleMania 41. As his return draws near, it appears WWE has big plans for him.

According to WrestleVotes Radio, WWE plans to feature Rey Mysterio in a major role for the company’s new AAA partnership once he is fully recovered and back in action. It was said that Mysterio is healing well following his recent surgery.

Sources also indicate that WWE is considering at least one more AAA streaming event before the end of the year, with speculation pointing to Survivor Series weekend in San Diego, which would be a fitting location given Mysterio’s deep ties to the city.

“Those in WWE want to feature Rey Mysterio in a major role as part of the new ongoing AAA rollout once he’s back healthy and in action. Mysterio is said to be progressing well after surgery. In addition, sources indicate WWE are considering at least one more AAA streaming event before the end of the year with speculation pointing to Survivor Series weekend in San Diego.”
