WWE Hall of Famer JBL thinks the writing’s already on the wall for Will Ospreay—and it spells W-W-E.
While speaking with Video Gamer, JBL was asked if AEW’s newest superstar might one day ditch Tony Khan’s promotion for the global juggernaut that is WWE. His answer? Pretty much a yes.
“Probably yeah. The temptation is just too great for these guys to go do big stadium shows and the money I guess probably a little bit better. WWE is on every freaking platform in the world right now. In a huge way. AEW’s got a good presence, but I mean, there’s no comparison… The temptation to be on all those platforms is pretty cool.”
JBL went further, pointing to the star power and mainstream perks WWE offers—like Seth Rollins being featured at massive football games thanks to WWE’s ESPN connection. According to JBL, it’s that kind of visibility that AEW just can’t match yet.
“The opportunities from WWE are so much more vast than anywhere else in the world that yeah, I think he probably ends up going there.”
This isn’t the first time Ospreay’s WWE future has come up. Back in 2024, ahead of WWE Backlash, AJ Styles weighed in on his private chat with Ospreay and praised his talent—though he stayed loyal to the WWE banner.
“Of course, why would I not want some of the best talent in the world to come to WWE?… If he were a douchebag, I probably would have called on him to, you know, see if he wants to come here.”
Will Ospreay officially signed full-time with AEW in 2023, instantly becoming one of the company’s most talked-about stars. But with top WWE names—and now JBL—publicly predicting his jump, it seems the tug-of-war for his future is far from over.
