WWE Only Gave Royal Rumble Surprise Entrant A Few Days Notice

The 2020 Royal Rumble included some surprises. We also saw a few Superstars return for a special appearance. Santino Marella showed up in drag as Santina and everyone had a laugh. He didn’t get much notice though.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Santino Marella was given a call a few days before the Royal Rumble to see if he was available. Obviously, Marella made the flight to Houston to give Santina another chance to wrestle in the spotlight.

Anthony Carelli dressed up in drag playing Santina Marella, who had a connection with Phoenix. He didn’t get called by WWE until a few days before the show. 

Santino Marella went back home after the Royal Rumble, but you never know when WWE might call him for a short comeback of The Cobra.
