Booker T is pulling talent from NXT once again—this time for one of Reality of Wrestling’s biggest women’s events of the year. The Sherri Martel Classic is back on Saturday, November 29, in Texas City, Texas, and the first name confirmed is none other than Olympic gold medalist Tyra Mae Steele.
Reality of Wrestling announced the news on X, confirming Steele’s entrance into the one-night tournament, where she’ll look to make a statement outside of WWE’s usual arena.
“Olympic Gold Medalist @MensahTamStock looks to add the Sherri Martel Championship to her list of accomplishments as she enters this year’s prestigious tournament”
This marks the third edition of the annual Sherri Martel Classic, an event that honors the late WWE Hall of Famer and showcases rising stars in the women’s division. Past winners include Hyan, who won the inaugural 2022 tournament by defeating Promise Braxton in the finals. Braxton would go on to get her revenge two years later, capturing the 2024 title after defeating Gigi Rey in the finals.
The tournament format traditionally includes six first-round singles matches, followed by two triple threat semifinals and a final one-on-one showdown to crown the winner.
For Tyra Mae Steele, the timing couldn’t be more interesting. She’s had a mixed run in NXT lately—most recently suffering a loss to Kelani Jordan on the November 4 episode. Before that, she notched a big win over Alba Fyre on August 26, but came up short at Heatwave, teaming with Tavion Heights in a losing effort against Ethan Page and Chelsea Green.
Now Steele has a shot to redeem her momentum by making a mark in Booker T’s world. And with the prestige of the Sherri Martel Classic growing each year, this could be a defining moment in her career.
Will Tyra Mae Steele bring home the Sherri Martel title, or will another name step up and steal the spotlight? Drop your predictions and tell us who you want to see win it all this year.
