Adriana Rizzo faced a huge setback after confirming she suffered a torn ACL injury and now the NXT Superstar has explained how she got injured in the first place.
While speaking in a TikTok video, Adriana Rizzo explained how she actually suffered a torn ACL, addressing the speculation around her injury. She said the damage began a year and a half ago when she partially tore her ACL during a throw after someone pushed her knee in.
Despite knowing the tear could worsen, she chose to keep competing rather than sit out for over a year, saying she would only get surgery when the ligament fully gave way.
“How I tore my knee. Why did it happen? I got a lot of people speculating, ‘Oh, you’re doing this.’ You know what? Right up—first of all, none of your business, but I’m gonna tell you anyway. I’m just sick of the speculation.
I had a partial tear—not fully—partial tear on my ACL. A year and a half ago, I was doing a throw over my head and somebody pushed my knee in. Partially tore my ACL. Whatever, I’m fine. I worked through it for a year and a half. Yes, I knew there was a chance it was gonna fully tear, but I wasn’t about to sit out for a year and a half because I got, you know, a splinter on my ACL. I’m gonna get surgery when the whole kabang goes. So I’m gonna go as long as I can until that happens. Yes, I knew it was a possibility. Yes, I made the decision. Yes, I’m still happy about my decision.”
The full tear happened during a practice drill when she was running to the corner and her knee suddenly gave out. She collapsed and stayed on the floor for several minutes, knowing immediately that the ligament had completely torn. Despite the setback, she stood by her decision to keep competing until the injury reached that point.
“So what happened was I was at practice, I was doing a drill, I’m running over to the corner and boom—my knee just, you know, bada bing, bada boom, explodes. I fall over. I lay on the floor for like four minutes because I knew. I knew my knee exploded and I was like, ‘Well, s***. There it goes.’”
While a torn ACL typically requires months of recovery and rehabilitation, Rizzo remains confident she made the right choice in competing for as long as she could. Fans are hoping for the best and praying she returns sooner rather than later.
Do you think Adriana Rizzo made the right call by competing with a partially torn ACL, or should she have opted for surgery sooner? Sound off in the comments.
