TNA’s Rebellion pay-per-view came and went — but the WWE megastar fans were teased about never showed up.
The hype started earlier in the week when TNA World Champion Joe Hendry dropped a major tease during an appearance on Busted Open Radio. Hendry hinted that a big WWE name was ready to crash the show.
“We don’t need to reveal who it is, but I know (Tommy Dreamer) knows who I’m going to be speaking about here because this person told me that you guys had a conversation. You said you wonder who might show up at Rebellion. One of the WWE megastars, who has a tour bus, told me they wanted to show up to Rebellion with their tour bus. We’ve got WWE megastars who want to get involved.”
Fans spent days speculating who it could be — but when Rebellion ended, there was no WWE megastar in sight. The reason why the appearance didn’t happen is still unknown, and Hendry never revealed which WWE name was considering pulling up.
Instead, Joe Hendry successfully defended the TNA World Championship against Ethan Page and Frankie Kazarian. Hendry scored the win after putting Kazarian through a table with an Attitude Adjustment, then pinning Page following a Freak of Nature Fallaway Slam and the Standing Ovation.
The night didn’t end perfectly for Hendry, though. After the match, WWE NXT’s Trick Williams stormed the ring and laid him out. The attack came hot on the heels of Hendry appearing on NXT’s post-Stand & Deliver episode, where he made it clear he wanted a piece of the NXT Championship scene.
Even without the mystery WWE megastar making an appearance, Hendry’s Rebellion moment was anything but quiet.
Which WWE megastar do you think Joe Hendry was talking about? And do you think this tease was part of a bigger plan? Drop your theories in the comments!
