TJP might be stepping back into WWE—this time in a mentor role behind the scenes.

According to PWInsider, the word making its rounds at the WWE NXT tapings last night was that WWE is considering bringing in the former Cruiserweight Champion as a guest coach at the Performance Center later this month.

TJP, also known as TJ Perkins, has a long history with WWE. He first appeared for the company as a teenager in the early 2000s, and later returned to much bigger fanfare in 2016 when he won the Cruiserweight Classic. That victory earned him the reactivated WWE Cruiserweight Championship, putting him at the forefront of WWE’s revamped cruiserweight division on RAW and 205 Live.

During his run, TJP squared off against some of the top names in the division before eventually parting ways with the company in 2019. Since then, he’s wrestled for promotions around the world including NJPW, MLW, AAA, and Impact Wrestling, gaining even more experience that he could now pass on to the next generation of WWE Superstars.

WWE has leaned heavily into bringing back respected names as guest coaches in recent months, and if TJP signs on, he could be a valuable addition to that lineup.
