AJ Lee may not be working a full-time WWE schedule, but don’t let that fool you—her WrestleMania plans are very real.

According to a new report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select on January 22, 2026, a singles match between AJ Lee and Becky Lynch is considered “locked in” for WrestleMania 42. After months of speculation, WWE seems ready to pull the trigger on one of the most anticipated dream matches in recent memory.

This clears the air following earlier reports that cast doubt on AJ Lee’s commitment to a full-time WWE schedule. Back on January 3, Sean Ross Sapp noted during a Fightful Select Q&A show that AJ’s sporadic appearances didn’t line up with how WWE typically books full-timers.

“She’s done two matches since she came back in—what was it, September or something? Well, she’s not full-time. That’s why.”

Still, AJ’s presence has loomed large. Her shocking SmackDown return on September 5, 2025—where she laid out Becky Lynch and grabbed the Women’s Intercontinental Title—set this rivalry in motion. That night, she also saved her husband CM Punk from an attack by Lynch and Seth Rollins.

She’s competed twice since then, teaming with Punk to defeat Lynch and Rollins in a mixed tag match at Wrestlepalooza and then at Survivor Series: WarGames. AJ scored the win by making Becky tap out to the Black Widow at Survivor Series—further building toward a one-on-one match.

Now, fans are finally set to get what they’ve been waiting for: AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch, one-on-one, on the grandest stage of them all. WWE hasn’t made the match official yet, but this new report confirms it’s in motion behind the scenes—and unless something drastic changes, it’s happening.

Do you think AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch will deliver at WrestleMania 42? Or should WWE have done more with AJ’s return beforehand? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
