John Cena turned the world upside down after becoming a heel at Elimination Chamber and then following it up with a harsh promo on the audience during the March 17 episode of RAW. In fact, the reaction from the WWE locker room to his promo has now been revealed.

While speaking to the Toronto Sun, Natalya revealed how the WWE locker room reacted to John Cena’s promo on the March 17th episode of Raw. She noted that she was there live, watching from behind a curtain because she wanted to see how the audience would respond.

Natalya noted that Cena’s storytelling had her on the edge of her seat, wondering what he would say next. Backstage, many WWE Superstars including Bayley and Rey Mysterio were gathered, all watching closely. Everyone was waiting to hear what Cena had to say, and they were all shocked by his words.

“I was there live, watching from behind a curtain because I wanted to see how the live audience would react. John is just a master storyteller. I was on the edge of my seat, wondering what he was going to say next. There were so many of us—Bayley, Rey Mysterio, and a lot of other talent—we were all backstage watching. Everyone was waiting to see what John Cena was going to say, and we were all shook.”

Natalya explained that Cena has always been someone the locker room looks up to, especially when he was active in WWE. He was a leader, someone they could rely on and respect. However, in this promo, he completely changed the mood and made everyone think deeply about what he was saying. Natalya looked at Bayley during the promo, and Bayley was shocked, saying she couldn’t believe John Cena was breaking up with the fans.

“It was really cool to see because John is someone we’ve all looked up to. Especially when he was actively in WWE, he was always a leader in the locker room, someone we could turn to and someone we all respected. But in that moment, he flipped the switch. He made you really think about everything he was saying. I remember looking at Bayley, and she was like, ‘Oh my God, he’s breaking up with the fans. He’s literally breaking up with us. How dare he?’”

Natalya admitted that some of Cena’s words really connected with her. He talked about always giving more and never feeling like it was enough. This made sense to her because, as WWE Superstars, they always push themselves to do their best, but sometimes it still feels like it’s not enough. She felt there was a lot of truth in what he said. Cena had everyone’s full attention, and the entire locker room was hanging on his every word.

“Some of the things he said, I actually agreed with. It wasn’t just about him—it was about all of us. We all want more. Everybody wants more. And he was like, ‘I do this, I do this, and I do this, and it’s never enough.’ That really hit me because, as performers, we just give and give and give, and sometimes it feels like it’s never enough. There was a lot of truth in what he said. He had all of us eating out of the palm of his hand.”

In his promo, John Cena claimed that fans had treated him badly for 25 years, forcing him to be what they wanted while always expecting him to smile. When he told them to be quiet, they got even louder, chanting against him. He said he wasn’t a babyface or a heel, he was just a human being. No matter how much he gave, it was never enough. Cena blamed the fans for ruining his retirement tour, saying they only take and don’t deserve anything.
