WWE fans were caught off guard this week after discovering that a massive portion of the company’s content library is set to leave Peacock by the end of December—months earlier than most expected.

While the deal between WWE and Peacock was always scheduled to end in 2026, viewers began noticing expiration notices across a wide range of content—including the entire WCW and ECW libraries, territory-era footage, and hundreds of classic WWE and WWF events. Now, it’s confirmed that the transition is happening sooner than originally believed.

This early exit comes as part of the expiration of the five-year agreement between WWE and Peacock, which began in March 2021. That deal brought the full WWE Network library under Peacock’s banner for U.S. fans. But with WWE now realigning its media rights and moving Raw to Netflix, SmackDown to USA Network, NXT to The CW, and Premium Live Events to ESPN DTC, the full library is the last remaining piece without a publicly confirmed destination.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed the exit timeline and explained the uncertain future of WWE’s video-on-demand history:

“The library at the end of this month will no longer be on Peacock, and what happens to the library in the United States is up in the air,” Meltzer said. “I know ESPN has said that they’re interested, probably wind up with ESPN. How much ESPN will put on its service is, we’ll have to wait and see. There’s a lot of people talking about Netflix. There’s so much stuff Netflix never put up internationally, because they have the rights internationally.”

Meltzer also advised fans not to wait if they want to catch classic wrestling footage before it vanishes—especially from the territorial days:

“I think that if you want to watch a lot of that old stuff… especially the territorial stuff… You might want to watch it in the next month, because there’s no guarantee that whomever gets the deal next will keep all of the stuff, especially the older stuff, the territorial stuff, because I think that somebody new might just say there’s no value in this.”

Peacock will continue to stream Saturday Night’s Main Event under a new deal, but nearly everything else—including the deep archive of pay-per-views, documentaries, and regional shows—will be removed by December 31, 2025.

If you’re hoping to rewatch classic WrestleManias, ECW’s rise and fall, or hidden gems from Mid-South, Stampede, or the AWA, the clock is ticking fast.
