WWE SmackDown’s lead writer Brian “Road Dogg” James had strong words about R-Truth’s WWE release—but he’s now deleted the tweet, raising even more eyebrows around the situation.
Shortly after R-Truth publicly announced that WWE had released him, James took to Twitter and expressed heartfelt frustration over the decision. In a now-deleted post, he wrote:
“I am heartbroken. It’s the nature of the beast; the part of business that no one likes but the bean counters. I love Ron the Truth Killings and I don’t care who knows it. WHAT A RUN!”
Before the tweet disappeared, Truth saw it and responded directly: “Thank you @BrianRDJames I love you too my dawg🙏🏾”
James’ message was one of the most emotional reactions from someone inside WWE creative—and its removal has only added to the confusion and speculation surrounding Truth’s exit.
On June 1, R-Truth—real name Ron Killings—announced his departure via social media. After a legendary WWE run, he confirmed the company had decided not to renew his contract.
“Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you 🙏🏾”
The announcement came just a week after his emotional match against John Cena at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24—a bout built on Truth’s real-life admiration for Cena, who he’s often referred to as his “childhood hero.”
While WWE has not issued a public statement, insider reports suggest that the locker room was blindsided by the decision. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select tweeted:
A lot of shock and disbelief within the WWE roster over R Truth not being brought back.
Now, with Brian James deleting his tweet, fans are left wondering if the situation is even more complicated behind the scenes than originally thought.
