WWE is stacking its deck with fresh talent during SummerSlam week—and the latest round of tryouts includes athletes from all walks of life, including a former beauty queen, a Canadian hockey player, and a Brazilian marathon runner.

According to PWInsider.com, WWE has officially invited a group of diverse prospects to participate in its upcoming tryouts, taking place around SummerSlam 2025. These aren’t just your typical indie wrestlers—most of them come from elite athletic backgrounds or unique entertainment spaces.

One of the standouts is Maliq Carr, a standout football player from Michigan State. WWE has been eyeing college athletes for years, and Carr’s size and charisma reportedly caught attention early.

Also attending is Ahmed Essam, an amateur wrestler from Egypt who previously participated in WWE’s London tryouts earlier this year. This is a second invitation.

Another name on the list is Eduardo Godinho, a Brazilian marathon runner who’s also an online fitness coach.

From the world of team sports, Zoey Hines is set to take part. She played softball at Boston College and even represented The French National Softball Team.

Instagram model and former hockey player Syd Langston is also part of the group. Langston hails from Canada and could be another crossover-ready talent if WWE is looking to build another social media-friendly star.

Rounding out the group is Ariana Wright, who held the title of Miss Maryland in 2023. Wright was also a track and field athlete at the University of Maryland.

WWE continues to cast a wide net when it comes to scouting potential superstars, and this lineup shows they’re not just looking for wrestling experience—they want marketability, versatility, and raw athletic potential.
