Danhausen may be on his way out of AEW, and according to a new report, WWE is already keeping a close eye on his next move.
Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that sources within WWE believe the popular—and bizarre—wrestler would thrive in an NXT setting if he becomes a free agent in the coming months. This follows recent reporting from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, who noted that Danhausen’s AEW contract is set to expire around February 2026.
While Danhausen hasn’t appeared on AEW television at all in 2025, he’s remained active on the independent scene. Sources also noted that Danhausen requested AEW not add injury time to extend his deal when it was originally set to expire this past summer.
No official comment has been made by Danhausen or AEW, but the timing suggests a decision will come soon. WWE’s interest could open the door for a new chapter in the career of one of wrestling’s most unique characters.
Danhausen’s comedic timing, quirky personality, and devoted fanbase could make him a natural fit for WWE NXT, especially given the brand’s history of embracing eccentric, character-driven talent.
Would you like to see Danhausen show up in NXT? Or should he stay independent—or even re-sign with AEW? Let us know where you think he’d be most very nice, very evil.
