Aaron Roberts has officially confirmed his release from WWE’s ID program, just months after being announced as a signee in November 2024.
Known on the independent scene as “The Problem,” Roberts made the announcement in a cinematic promo posted to Twitter, declaring the end of his time with the developmental initiative.
The WWE ID program, launched in January 2025, was designed to spotlight and support standout talent from the independent wrestling world. Roberts had been featured in multiple showcases under the banner, including a loss to Jack Cartwheel in the ID Men’s Championship tournament at the NYWC ID Showcase in June, and a pair of matches against It’s GAL in July and August. His last appearance came on August 1 at the GCW ID Showcase—just weeks before his release.
Roberts delivered the news in a stylized video that opens with mock “breaking news” text and voiceover audio, setting the tone for the announcement:
“We turn to sports with breaking news, as The Problem Aaron Roberts, the baddest man walking both sides of the Mississippi, has been released from his WWE ID contract.”
The screen then cuts to Roberts appearing defiant and determined as a voice says he “failed them.” Text then hits:
“Aaron Roberts is not a failure.”
The video ends with Roberts seated atop a pile of bodies, defiantly declaring:
“I’m still the baddest motherf**ker walking both sides of the Mississippi.”
Booking information for independent appearances was included in the final frames.
While WWE ID gave Roberts a platform to showcase his potential, his release marks another shift in what has already been an unpredictable experimental program. Though details surrounding his departure weren’t disclosed, the message from Roberts was loud and clear—he’s not finished.
